Who are we?

Upton Junior Football Club is based in Upton in Chester, and operates teams from under 6 years of age up to under 16 years of age. We are registered with the Cheshire County FA as Upton Junior Football Club - Chester, and have achieved the Football Association's Charter Standard "Development" award. The Charter Standard Scheme sets standards for coaching, administration and child protection for clubs outside the Premier and Football Leagues. It is a benchmark for quality, designed to improve the playing experience for all.

At Upton Junior FC, each age group has its own separate coaching session, which is centred on improving individual skill and building teamwork. Participation in small-sided games ensures that the children are involved more and learn to work with other players.

Upton Junior FC operates a code of conduct for players to promote fair play and respect for each other as well as coaches, referees and opponents.

Aims

It is our aim to encourage children of all abilities to play football and hopefully improve their skill and understanding of the game.

It is our aim to ensure that children train with others of the same ability; in this way we hope they gain a better sense of achievement at coaching sessions.

It is our aim, where possible, to operate two sides between the ages of under 6 and under 10. The teams can then play against children of similar ability, ensuring that the experience of playing matches is an enjoyable one.

It is our aim that all of the Team Managers and Coaches gain as a minimum the FA's Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football, in order to deliver quality coaching to the children.

Financing

Upton Junior FC are funded by subscriptions from players, organized fund-raising events such as our Race Night, Presentation Day and Penalty Shoot Out Competition and also through the generous sponsorship of local firms.
